Using A Fancy Die Cut to Make a Simply Elegant Card

I created this simple, but elegant card using the Hero Arts Fancy Fall Frame die from the September 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit.

While this card may look involved, it was actually very simple to make. First I stamped the paper with the Patterned Lanterns Background Stamp from Hero Arts with Versa mark Ink and clear sparkles embossing powder. I chose some distress inks in colors that “felt” like Autumn and did some resist embossing to create my own patterned paper. I cut the patterned paper to 4.25in x 5.5in and chomped off the corners with a punch. Positioning the fancy window and frame die from the kit in the center of my patterned paper, I cut the window. I laid the frame of the patterned piece to the side, while I die cut the same frame in white and gold. I then in-laid the white into the oval frame, layering the gold on top. This gives the card a little dimension. Finally, I layered the patterned frame on top and slightly offset to let the gold paper acts as a shadow.

I stamped the sentiment ‘thankful’ directly onto the visible white card base. On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment ‘You color my world’ and the fall branch image, which is quickly colored with alcohol markers. Both the card front and inside sentiments are only available with the kit, which is still available at the time of this post.

Since I don’t have as much time as I would like to craft, I really like cards that I can sit and finish in 30 to 45 minutes.

Happy Crafting Y’all
